For most of the year the sun shines on the Costa Blanca!  325 days a year, according to the statistics, with an average temperature of over 19 degrees.  From the middle of March you won't need any heating in the house and the pool and sea will start to warm up. They will be at their warmest by July and August and although the sun is hot, there is usually a cooling sea breeze!  It will still be warm enough to swim in October, especially in the community's heated pool- but in November the nights will start to cool - you may need the central heating,or that log fire in Casa Quinta. But the days will usually be sunny and warm - I have sunbathed at Christmas and seen people swimming in January- and those amazingly clear spring days are the perfect time for walking in the mountains!

Moraira lies between Alicante and Valencia, both interesting and historical cities to visit, and closer to home is Benidorm, busy in high season, but delightful in winter, and worth a visit for its fabulous selection of theme parks - Terra Mitica for some exciting rides, Terra Natura for the animals, or Aqualandia to cool off in the water. There are lots of other places to visit if you can tear yourself away from the pool - the pretty town of Altea with its old town dominated by a beautiful blue-domed church, lively Javea with its sandy beach, and don't forget Calpe - you can climb the Rock (the Penon D'Ifach) if you are brave enough!    Or take a drive into the mountains for some spectacular views, especially in February when the almond blossom covers everywhere with a veil of white, or April, when the heady scent of orange blossom fills the air.
